December Update

Dear Friend of India,

I just returned from a trip to India with a team of 23 other brothers and sisters who medically served and ministered to well over 3000 people during two medical camps and visits to nearby villages and slums. It was my first trip of this kind and I was deeply impacted. During a camp that served about 1000 aids infected people I wrote the following, and I want to share it with you.

Update: Medical Team

Heaven’s Gate social worker, Sam Thangaiah, introduced us to little 6-year-old Harikrishna. “He is HIV positive,” Sam explained. “His father abandoned the family after infecting is wife and child. His mother brought this boy to us in June. She said she’d come back but she’s been gone for months. Every time an Indian woman comes this boy asks, ‘Is this my mother?’” As we looked down into the sad eyes of this little boy our hearts simply broke.

The next day Nisha, one of the medical team members, eagerly agreed to sponsor Harikrishna. Miraculously, when we went to look for him we found him smiling from ear to ear, sitting on the lap of a man who was next to a woman who looked very much like Harikrishna! After some investigation we were told that this father returned to his wife and together they traveled over 400 km to Nazareth to see their son and attend the free HIV/AIDS medical camp. Nisha was blessed to meet the entire family.

God heard the anguished cry of this little boy, reunited this family, AND gave him a very special sponsor!

Prayer Requests

For the christmas tree sales

For a successful 2nd medical camp

Their safe return. The team is amazing and has stayed healthy, happy, and productive. We've seen lots of miracles and God's amazing provision.

Bounty Offered for Killing Pastors

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

A dear brother at our fellowship alerted me to this article on the Berean Call Website (Dave Hunt). Please read and then please pray for the Christian pastors in Orissa.

Going Rate to Kill Pastors

Going rate to kill pastor: $250 [Excerpts]

Hindu extremist groups are offering money, food and alcohol to anyone who murders Christians and destroys their homes.

The violence is nothing new in Orissa, India, where India's Communist Party estimates that more than 500 Christians have been killed by Hindu mobs in Orissa since late August, 12 times more than official government claims of only 40 homicides.

But now the stakes are even higher – and pastors have a bounty on their heads.

Faiz Rahman, chairman of Good News India, said Hindu militants are targeting Christian leaders, the Christian Post reported.

"The going price to kill a pastor is $250," he said.

Rahman, a head of several orphanages in Orissa State, said he's helped 25 pastors to leave refugee camps, but 250 Christian leaders are still in shelters.

"All of the pastors are high value targets," Rahman told the UK-based Release International. "We've got to get them out of the refugee camps."

An All-India Christian Council spokesman said, "People are being offered rewards to kill, and to destroy churches and Christian properties. They are being offered foreign liquor, chicken, mutton and weapons. They are given petrol and kerosene."

On Nov 7, 2008, Brother Henry wrote:

Greetings in the holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lalu (513/07) and Anitha Mercy (372/05) are admitted in the hospital. Both are special children.

Lalu is having a infection in his ears which has made him very ill. Whereas Anitha Mercy is having a tumor in her cheeks. The doctors doubt it to be a cancer and having taken Biopsy test.

Please pray for the health of these two children. I have attached some photos also.
