Prayer Devotional

“Pray without ceasing.”  1 Thessalonians 5:17.  “The Lord will hear when I call unto Him.”  Psalm 4:3.

We miss so much devotional joy, when we neglect to pray throughout the day.  In the intervals between our regular prayer times, we need a habit of offering up brief expressions of devout feeling.  Our morning and evening prayers depend very much upon these interspersed offerings. These quick prayers throughout the day, in return are dependent on more intense prayer times.  Communion with God in both, is assisted by linking the “set times” together by a chain of heavenward thoughts and aspirations, all day long.  Sunrise and sunset may attract our attention more strongly than the succession of golden rays between them, but who can say that they are more cheering?

Life becomes blessed as it is permeated with the spirit of prayer in all its affairs.  Prayer should be as natural, and as easy as breathing.  The prayer life is best sustained when prayer becomes about as continuous as breathing.  Every breath a prayer.
