“My soul waits silently for God alone. For my expectation is from Him.”-Psalm 62: 5.
We expect from God because we believe in Him. Expectation is the child of prayer and faith, and comes from the Lord as a grace we can receive. We shouldn’t desire anything other than what it rightly comes from God. Then our expectations would be all from God; and concerning really good things we should not look to secondary causes, but to the Lord alone, and so again our expectation should be all from Him. The vain expectations of worldly men do not come to pass; they promise, but there is no performance. Our expectations are on the way, and in due season will arrive to satisfy our hopes. Happy is the man who feels that all he has, all he wants, and all he expects are to be found in his God.
- C. H. Spurgeon
“Expect great things from God,” uttered William Carey, and inaugurated the modern missionary movement, and as we expect great things from God, pray for great things, and work for great things, great things shall be seen. Our expectations will be great as we base them on God’s faithfulness.
