“And the Lord said to Joshua, Do not fear them; for I have delivered them into your hand: not a man of them shall stand before you.”-Joshua 10: 8.
This promise was followed by such praying, and such tremendous earnestness and such marvelous results as have seldom been equaled. The day this promise was made Joshua prayed that the sun might stand still upon Gideon, and the moon in the valley of Ajalon. And it is written, “And there has been no day like that before it, or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.”-Joshua 10:14
What a day of prayer, and zeal, and victory, there will be in our lives when it begins with some promise of God’s presence and power—some promise of divinely given success and triumph shining out clearly before our soul’s apprehension and faith! What can inspire us to such bold and confident praying, such intense earnestness, patient endurance, courageous resistance, diligent aggressiveness, like a promise that makes victory certain?
