…And He did a wondrous thing while Manoah and his wife looked on.
—Judges 13:19
The blessing that resulted from Manoah’s prayer was something more than the answer. There was the blessed revelation of God Himself, and the wonderful knitting together of the hearts of the parents. The angel of the Lord had revealed himself in such a way that Manoah felt, “We have seen God” (verse 22). When he asked the angel’s name, his name was Wonderful—“and the angel did wondrously.” And this is still the name of the parent’s God, “WonderfulI.”
Just as Manoah did, we pray, wait for, and accept His divine teaching. He is wonderful in His love, wonderful in His ways, and wonderful in His work. He is wonderful in what He does for us as parents, and wonderful in what He does through us for our children. Let us worship the Lord, the parent’s God, whose name is Wonderful! Let our prayer, like Manoah’s, end in praise and worship, in faith and truth.
