Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
—Psalm 34:3
If this page is read by parents who are aware that their own and their family’s service of God has not been as God would have it, let me give a word of advice. Father and mother must discuss this matter with one another. Say what you have often felt, but each has kept to himself. Say that it is your united desire to live as entirely for God as grace can enable you to do. If your children are old enough, include them, too, and ask if they will join in this holy covenant, “We will serve the Lord.”
Let this covenant from time to time be renewed in a distinct act of consecration, that the conviction may be confirmed: We do want to be a holy family, a house where God dwells. Ours must be a home completely consecrated to God. Do not worry that you will be unable to keep this vow. It is not we who have to do the work and then bring it to God. We may count upon Him to accept, confirm, and carry out the purpose of our heart, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
