Empowered by the Holy Spirit

The life and ministry of the Holy Spirit opens up for the believer in Jesus Christ a whole new world of spiritual resources.

First, it is the Holy Spirit who creates within us a new and wonderful spiritual life. This new life is characterized above all else by love as described in Galatians 5:16-25. This love brings inner joy and peace that comes from deep within our newly born spirits. The Apostle Peter described this as enabling us to be partakers of divine life (2 Peter 1:4). Jesus referred to this new life within us as a spring of life that would come forth from deep within (John 4:14). Paul the Apostle called Christians to look at this new life in the Spirit as the only viable way to live a successful spiritual life (Romans 8:1-6; Galatians 5:16, 5:22-23). This is a life characterized above all else by love which results in inner joy and peace, along with self-control as we live in a world that is in opposition to God’s will.

In addition to the information presented here, I encourage you to thoroughly read chapters 12 through 14 of 1 Corinthians as well as Romans 12:3-8 so you can develop a balanced understanding of the place the gifts of the Holy Spirit should have in the Body of Christ.  As we take time to study these gifts of the Holy Spirit, I encourage you to also read through the exciting accounts of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the books of Acts. These passages will help you to discover the essential role the Holy Spirit played in the founding and growth of the early church of Jesus Christ. You will see that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, common people such as us can be used in a mighty way by God. We are no longer limited by our natural abilities because we have access now to the supernatural abilities of the Holy Spirit.
